I led global TEAMS at Fortune 500 & 800 with $10M-$400M P&L responsibility. Recurring challenge is the lack of an effective operating model on the ground. One of my proud accomplishments is turning around a struggling $400M global Application Services BU(Business Unit) at Unisys and positioning the BU on top of the other BUs. Here is how I accomplished this,

  1. Build trust and partnership with your Workforce, and find champions like Valerie

  2. Get alignment from your HR, in this case, find HR Business Partners like Sulekha and Mary

  3. Find bosses like Harvey King who empower you

  4. Last but not least, identify change champions in your org to accelerate the operating model on the ground

  5. Celebrate

As a leader of your organization, it is your responsibility to create an effective operating model with guardrails to empower your TEAMS, don’t assume or let your TEAMS figure out an operating model, which is highly unlikely to happen (My Fortune company experience).
